For 20 years, Fran Severn has worked as a print and broadcast journalist and writer.
Starting in TV and radio, she worked as a reporter, anchor,
producer and assignment editor in Ohio and Kentucky. When her Air Force husband
was transferred to England, Fran hung up her earphones and turned to the keyboard,
starting a second career as a freelance writer. While overseas, she contributed
feature pieces to Games, Horse Illustrated, Military Lifestyle, and
International Mining Equipment.
Returning to the States, Fran became PR Director
for the Maryland Office of Tourism Development. She was lured away to become
Community Relations Director for a regional health care system. Two years later,
she escaped from that field of egos, politics and self-abuse to return
to the relatively benign world of freelancing.
A
member of the International
Food, Wine & Travel Writers Association, the Southeast Outdoor Press
Association, Cassell Network of Writers, Freelance Success, and FIJET, Fran
concentrates on travel and lifestyle features. Major credits include Delta
Sky, Women's Sports and Fitness, American Style, AAA Car & Travel, Culinary
Trends, and Woodall's RV Publications. She moderates the Travel Writer's
Forum on Inkspot.com.
A private pilot, Fran flies to many of her assignments. She's home-based on Maryland's Eastern Shore, where she lives with her husband, son, and two dogs.
